Piece of Wild Things
A poem by Wendell Berry, it serves to tell us of slowing down and appreciating what is around us. Inspired by this poem, I set out to make a visual story with this poem and show off the messaging in a creative and clever way.

Background
"The Peace of Wild Things" is a poem by Wendell Berry. It is centered around three major ideas.
finding peace in stress
Appreciating what's around you
changing perspectives
This poem's topic is something I wanted to talk about because I feel that its overall messages apply to anyone. And if I can show an interpretation of this poem, I would be satisfied with that.
Inspiration
For inspiration, I was really inspired by classic storytelling books and old Disney films. With the actually format like a classic Dr Suess books, like on the left with How the Grinch stole Christmas. The designs meanwhile I wanted to take from picture books but I also wanted the images to have a very whimsical feeling. Like in old Disney movies and series backgrounds, such as Winnie the Pooh, Bambi and sleeping beauty.
I wanted to these styles, because
I think it just fits the overall vibe of the poem
I know that story's formatted and shaped in these styles had a great impact on generations, and were really clever ways of telling complex themes and stories, so they can do it perhaps I can as well.
Process: Sketches
Above are some of the sketches I created. Many of them are meant to be physical representations of what the poem pages are supposed to look like.
Process: Illustration to After Effects
1. Sketches
Sketches were first. Each sentence was sketched out to what the line represented.
2. Illustrator
Once the sketch was created, it was put into Adobe Illustrator and redone. I focused on vibrate imagery since text was later on.
3. After Effects
Once the Illsutrator file was done, it was taken into After Effects given the sentence and different effects like a rain and darken effect.
Final Product Review
Once all the images and text was put, everything came together swimmingly. With 10 graphical images and a free sound, Piece of Wild Things was transformed into a lovely piece for all to see.
I am so happy to have done this project because
I appreciate motion graphical works of poems/stories, I practically grew up with them
Drawing is one of my passions, building this all by hand has made me love digital art more
I care for this poem, it has changed me for the better.
