Activation of AI Regulation

Timeline: 2 weeks, Oct 21th, 2025 - Nov 22nd,2025

Tools: Premiere Pro and Audition

Role: Producer and Editor

Executive Summary

I am not an AI hater. HOWEVER, I am a firm believer about AI having the potiental to be a very dangerous tool if it stays the way it is. Hence why when I got the option to make a starter podcast for my Audio and Video Design class, I knew that this was what I wanted to talk about.

Background

I have always had mixed opinions about AI. On one hand, I see its uses. On the other hand, I think generative AI acts like a slap to the face to writers and artists. But I didn’t know AI, for this podcast assignment I got a simple question.

“If AI did get to a bad point, would anything stop it?”

And suddenly, I went down the rabbit hole about just how little regulation currently exists.

Inspirations

I began looking into other podcasts, seeing what other people created to see what I could do with my topic. Podcasts sound very difficult. Its just crazy how quickly you have to get people’s attention. So I did some research.

Turned out, didn’t need to go that far. The Very Really Good Podcast by Kurtis Conner is an incredible watch. He’s a good mix of silly and serious, and thats the vibe that I was looking for. But in order to do that, I needed a plan.

Process

This project works in two phases. The first week is dedicated to planning and preparing while the second week focused on the actual filming process. It was a whole lot in a single week, but this step up would allow me to figure the best course of action as I went into the second week.

Planning a Podcast

In order to plan a podcast, I needed a good step up. So I started work shopping some hooks that would really get people in. I learned that a lot of podcasts have amazing openers that really shock you, make you laugh or are just so confusing that you just have to know more. So I wanted to do something similar.

I wanted to start with a question, about how regulations currently exist against GENERATIVE Ai specifically? But I wanted to go deeper. At least for tbis first episode I wanted a topic that was serious but also one that people don’t know a lot about: copyright.

Physical Filming

The actual filming process wasn’t too bad. The only main problem that I had had to do with the microphone echo. No matter how hard I tried to fix it, both in and out of Audition, I simply couldn’t fix the audio without me sounding too quiet or too loud.

There was a bonus to this though. Because we were using Audition, it was actually fun. I don’t mind sound editing that much. please its cool to see how it all comes out.

Final Product

After those two lovely weeks and REALLY long recorded section about AI, Activation of AI Regulation was complete! I am actually quite proud of it, especially considering it was my first time using a lot of those audio equipment, which I don’t mind. Plus, I have future plans for this podcast so let’s see how the audio came out!

Reflection

Overall, I’d say my time of Activation of AI Regulation was loads of fun to do! I was especially found of the recording audio part of the process because, you have to know what to say at the right time. And I think that just really shows how unique podcast life is. Like yes, maybe some parts are bad, but most of the time, a podcast can change a lot, and I think thats pretty nifty!

Next Steps

Where to head next:

  • Scheduling: I really want to schedhule more podcasts like this within the future!

  • Summer Plan: I am actually in the middle of a summer plan at the moment, so I can continue when I am out of school!

  • Better Quality: I also just have to get better quality stuff. Loved my roommates microphone, but there’s some equipment thats just better!
